FlyZen virtual was a virtual airline founded in late October of 2008.  The idea started as a love that i have for Lufthansa airlines,  the amazing manner in which they operate on a daily basis and  how they make the experience as welcoming and hassle free as possible. I wanted to apply those same traits to a virtual airline of my own,  so off I went,  on a quest to create a virtual Lufthansa airline. I had made great progress into the website and operations when my request for permission was denied by the Lufthansa administration located in Germany. With little drive and motivation left I set out to create an airline with the same traits as LH but a different name and look to add to my dream of the perfect virtual airline. Originally the name was going to be Aero-Siegeren, a morph of my first major virtual airline  name ‘Aero-Sieg’. It was going to operate similar to LH’s plan but with more focus cities and a greater variety of destinations to allow for a better pilot experience. But something just didn’t feel right about creating an airline, with only a few different characters to differentiate my first success and failure in the hobby. So I quickly searched for a new name that would incorporate my love of the modern world and my love for aviation. Soon I came upon..Zen.

In early November, plans were slowly being drawn up for what in my opinion was going to be the most complex virtual international carrier the simulation community had ever seen. After many months of work, the spark started to dim…the opinion brought me to a more realistic realization of what FlyZen would end up being…a failure. By early May, the administration had gone their separate ways and Zen was carried with the ever changing winds of time. But come late June something sparked once again, this time I knew I was in for a long-haul and FlyZen would reach success.

So here I am! Writing this post about the history and what I hope to remain the past of FlyZen. Much work has been completed and the planning continues on!
